This New Year it’s all about keeping it fresh and organized!  My biggest resolution is to be as organized as possible and buying a planner was the first thing on my to-do list.  My best friend has been bragging about her new Lilly Pulitzer planner from the moment she got it and finally I gave in and purchased my very own. Organizing should always be fun and this adorable planner will give you the urge to pencil in every detail and event happening this year!

Second on my list, is the Nars blushes.  For the longest time I have been wanting one of these babies and finally my best friend bought me one for my birthday.  This blush is probably one of  THE BEST make up products you could spend money on this year.  The way it compliments my skin and adds warmth is truly amazing.  I would definitely encourage you to purchase one of these babies, you won’t regret it.

Recently I’ve been loving pink nail polish and in my personal opinion Essie has the prettiest colors!  With Valentines day a month away, definitely think about going pink.

Lavender is a color that has also been catching my eye lately.  I love the adorable Peplum look and this lavender dress is such a cute piece for any party you have coming up this year!

A simple bright clutch or a pair of wedges can make any outfit pop so definitely be on the look out.

And last but not least, these adorable Capri trousers are closet staples.  I myself have purchased a couple of these and not only are they different but they add instant class to your simple t-shirt look!

Outdoor Party Ideas

So this past week I have been at numerous outdoor parties and it really got me thinking about good ideas and tips that will have ALL the aunties raving at your next BBQ.

In this day and age recycling in my opinion is very crucial but also beneficial. Glass jars can be a great accessory to your outdoor party whether your using them as glass lanterns, glasses or whatever brilliant idea comes your way. Bottom line is to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS recycle your glass jars you never know when you’ll need them. (spaghetti sauce jars, pickle jars, fruit jam jars, etc.)

Boho.

Whenever I’m going out, I try to be as Boho as I can whether I’m at the beach or running errand. I love to spend my summer nights relaxing with my family or friends and I feel like this look really relates to the vibe. The boho look is probably the most comfortable, summer friendly look you can go for. I love how this look can be loose yet perfectly fitted. I’m nowhere near close to being hippie or alternative but for some reason I love tribal prints and vintage looks.

I love headbands especially at the beach. They’re a great tool to prevent your hair from blowing in your face! This accessory can look good anywhere and being brown it makes us look extra chic because I’m pretty sure we invented the whole head piece look.

Maxi dresses are great for summer boho looks and are very modest. A lot of people feel like they can’t pull off maxi dresses due to the misconception that you have to be tall to pull off the look. I’m here to put an end to the rumors. Nicole Richie, aka queen of Boho is only 5’0 and if you ask me she looks pretty chic in her white maxi; not only are maxi dresses cute but also they’re very comfy and perfect for any summer event.

Tribal and fringe are great patterns for summer. Tribal print has bright colors that look great on our skin and fringe is a playful summer look that can be worn as an accessory or top.

If you’re running errands or getting brown-er on the beach you’ll need a nice pair of shades wherever go.

The Knot.

I’ve been looking for easy fashion do it yourself looks and I couldn’t think of something more easy yet summer chic at the same time! This look can be dressed up with a pencil skirt or slacks or even a cute and quick look for the gym or running errands. The best part about this trend is that everyone can have it! The front tie look is easy, all you need to do is cut a small slit through the front of a big T-shirt or tank. I love this trend mainly because I’m a petite and finding an XS or S is the hardest thing right next to opening a glass jar of tomato pickle. So buying a size medium or large tank is no problemo in my case.

Easy color blocking combo

I think by far my favorite color blocking combo is yellow and teal. They’re both beautiful colors as it is and together they look unstoppable. I love seeing people pair the colors together whether it be a yellow top or dress and big teal statement necklace. Never be to matchy, matchy always be bold and fashion forward!

Bright and White

I’ve been loving the color white mainly because it gives off a classy yet relaxed vibe. I’d also like to say that the White Hot Miami Heat’s victory inspired me…but lets be real. I think that white instills images of relaxation and peace. Whatever my reasoning, here are some “must have” white essentials that can be dressed up and dressed down.

White pants have been on everyone’s wish list lately, they’re perfect for summer and look very nice. I’ve been really specific when it comes to white pants or colored pants for that matter on their length. Almost every teenager has taken white pants or colored pants and worn them as skinny’s but let’s get classy! Go for a more mature and modern look by rolling them up to your ankles or simply looking for white capri’s like these. Pair them with a bright loose silk button down accompanied by flats and your good to go!

This white kimono dress can be worn to the beach or even dressed up with bright statement necklace or belt and heels. It’s is also nice because it has an elasticized waist which can shape your body very nicely. (to purchase click on the picture)

The products I’m currently obsessing over

If you’re brown you know how hard it is to manage that thick black hair and finding the perfect conditioner is key! Well my friends, the name says it all Alagio’s Silk Obsession condition leaves my hair (thickest hair in the world) so silky and smelling SO GOOD. To be honest if they sold a body spray that smelled like this conditioner I would be known for that scent. Something that makes me mad about this conditioner is the fact that they don’t specify what flavor it smells like! I honestly have never smelled anything so like this conditioner and my description may be poor but it almost has like a cocoanut cucumber thing goin’ on but stronger. To be honest I’m not really big on professional haircare stuff but my mother is and she got me hooked to this product and I am begging you to try it! You can find Alagio products at your grocery store (where I find mine) and if you can’t find it there simply click on the picture. I bought mine for $8 however online it’s cheaper. And also if your not going to buy this and come across it at your grocery store aisle crack open the top and smell it and I’m pretty sure you will change your mind.

Even though this summers nail polish trend has been all about the coral and orange shades my annoying older sister was begging (practically on her knees) to get a pastel almost lilac colored nail polish. It was really embarrassing and almost entertainment for everyone in aisle 10 at Target that night, so I had no choice but to purchase the pastel polish and surprisingly I’ve learned to love this shade on my nails. I’m really picky when it comes to pastel colors on my nails because I feel like sometimes it can look like white out especially on brown skin, however I love this purple it has a bright yet subtle look. It’s very young and perfect for summer! The color is called Charming (number 211), I found mine at Target and I believe you can find Revlon polishes at almost any drug store. I haven’t worn blush in a long time and it got me thinking, so i was on the hunt. Maybelline just came out with there new line of blushes called Bouncy Blush and they’re serious when they say bouncy. The blush is literally bouncy! It has the coolest texture of make up I have ever experienced. When you touch it, it almost feels like a cream blush but when it hits your skin it feels like a fine powder. Whatever the heck it is, this stuff works. You simply apply it with your fingers across your cheek bone and you can control whether you want bright cheeks or go for a more natural toned down look. I really don’t know why I never was into blush, it can be really hard to find a good blush especially being brown but I definitely recommend this blush! For all of you challenged eye liners, have no fear Milani is here! To begin with if you use a pencil eye liner because you really suck at liquid then this is perfect for you! I personally only like using pencil on my waterline (bottom eye line) because I feel like your waterline shouldn’t be as bright as your top. Which is the main reason I really don’t like using pencil because it’s not really dark enough and wont define your eye as well as liquid or gel. Anyways we call all agree on the fact that using liquid can is tough which is why I’m obsessing over this Milani Eye Tech liquid eyeliner because it really gets the job done and is so simple! Anyone can do there eyeliner with this! Milani also came out with an Extreme Eye Tech which is basically a longer version of this however I think it’s easier to work with something short because you can have a stronger grip on it. My best friend who is just as crazy about makeup as I am got me obsessed with these tools (no pun intended)! I have never felt a makeup brush as soft as these brushes! When I bought my Kabuki brush (the fat one in the first row) I couldn’t stop stroking it against my face because it feels so soft! The hair on these brushes is so soft and really gets the job done. Say goodbye to cheap makeup sets and hello to your coastal scents sets! This Christmas my make up fanatic best friend surprised me with this Coastal Scents 88 original shimmer palette and I fell in love the moment I pulled it out of the box! I have never used a full eye shadow set like this, these shadows have the best texture and are very rich in color. The best part about this product is telling people it is not a mini laptop (frequently asked). This is definitely one of the best eye shadow products I have ever used and this is also THE PERFECT GIFT! My cousin is a dancer and if you know dancers there make up is very dramatic and she asked to borrow mine for her Arrangettam (dance graduation) and I surprised her with her own backstage and she started tearing up and it was a really emotional and joyful moment. Who knew an eye shadow palette could be so moving? It’s literally the best gift and the best part about it is that coastal scents has the best deals on this product in particular for some reason? I don’t understand because the quality of these shadows are amazing, whatever, take advantage of the sale! It’s now on sale for 10.52!?
